DEAR APPLICANTS, since 1943 and to this day, our department is the only one in the Republic of Kazakhstan that trains technologists, materials scientists and experts in the field of ceramics, glass and astringent materials, as well as scientists in research laboratories for the synthesis of technical crystals and precious jewelry stones.
Well-known to you - porcelain, glass, crystal, wall ceramics, Portland cement, porcelain stoneware, foam materials, ruby, zircon, emerald, turquoise and many other widely sought-after creations of mankind are in the daily activities of our graduates. Bioceramics, bioglass and biocement - discovered in the last two decades, according to material scientists, are the scientific discovery of our era. There is a huge future for these revolutionary materials.
The department implements three levels of education - bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies with training in Kazakh, Russian and English.
The department has been awarded certificates from international experts ASIIN (Germany), which allow undergraduate graduates to be awarded the Chemistry Eurobachelor Label, as well as the European Chemical Thematic Network (ECTN) to graduates of the master's degree, the Chemistry Euromaster Label.
The department operates specialized laboratories “Comprehensive laboratory of modern testing methods for silicate materials” and “Mineral resource supply for the silicate industry, synthesis of single crystals, precious stones and priority materials.”
The department has extensive scientific and creative connections with related departments abroad and in our country - Russian Chemical Technology University. DI. Mendeleev (Moscow), National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, Belgorod State Technological University named after. V.G. Shukhov, Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, Bauhaus-Universitat Weimar (Germany, Weimar), Technische Universitat Munchen (Germany, Munich), Kazakh National Technical University. K.I. Satpayev (Almaty), Taraz Regional University named after. M.H. Dulati and others.
The share of the silicate materials industry in the economy of the Republic is huge, where there are 295 ceramic brick factories, 17 cement factories, 2 porcelain tile factories, a sheet glass factory, a refractory factory, dozens of container glass factories and many other enterprises in the industry. It will be interesting for you to know that in the metropolis of Shymkent and the Turkestan region as a whole, 77 baked brick factories, 3 cement factories, a porcelain stoneware factory, glass container production, a chrysotile cement products factory, etc. are successfully operating.
The department maintains close scientific and production ties with ZERDE-Keramika LLP (Shymkent), Standardcement LLP, Eurocrystal LLP, Shymkentcement JSC, Sairam Brick Plant LLP, SAS-Tobe Technologies LLP, JSC Zhambylgips", LLP "Kazogneupor" (Rudny), LLP "Kurylys materialdary", LLP "Britexline", LLP "Rauan", LLP "Batsu", OJSC "Glass company "SAF" (Almaty), OJSC "Glass company "SAF" (Taraz), etc.
The main scientific direction of the department is the priority problems of silicate materials technologies, included in the State programs for industrial and innovative development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. All types of research work are carried out with the direct participation of students, undergraduates and doctoral students.
Our pride is our graduates. Among the department's graduates are numerous company presidents, plant directors, leading technologists, doctors and candidates of science, professors and associate professors. Over the years, our graduates have become and are now becoming akims of regions and cities, academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ministers, deputies of parliament and akimats of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
